Prek Feb. 3 and 4

Hope everyone has been enjoying the beautiful snow outside! After several snow days hopefully we are back on track with a regular library schedule. This week in library we read books about the ocean- first we talked about what animals live in the ocean. There were many good ideas- an octopus, dolphin, whale, shark and several classes even said a mermaid! The 3's read Hooray for fish! by Lucy Cousins. The 4's listened to Big Al by Andrew Clements. We sang about ocean creatures and then both classes listened to The Three Little Fish and the Big Bad Shark by Ken Geist. I love to use this book and am happy when the classes make the connection to the three little pigs and the big bad wolf. Next week we will be reading loud and quiet books! Literacy tip of the week- print motivation. Read to your child, children who associate reading with happy times will continue reading as they get older!
