Today we read the book The Runaway Garden by Jeffrey Schatzer. This book is part of the Michigan Reads program- the whole state of Michigan is reading this book! The kids will bring home a sticker and a bookmark. After reading the book we talked about how each of us is important and has a job to do. Today was the first day the students could choose their book off of the library shelves. I sang the "Booky Looky" song and showed them how to use their shelf marker to "mark" the place where the book they are looking at lives so they know where to put it back if they decide not to check-out that book. Thank you for returning your library books! If you child didn't bring their book back then they couldn't check-out a new book.
