Preschool week of February 14th
"P" is for pigs and pockets. This week in library we explored the books about pigs and pockets. The 3's read If You Give a Pig a Pancake by Laura Numeroff. After reading they helped me retell the story using flannelboard pieces. We then sang the "Piggy Pokey" and read A Peek in My Pocket by David Carter and then we "peeked" in the pockets of my apron. Ask your child if they remember what was in my pockets. The 4's read A Pocket for Corduroy by Don Freeman and What Did You Put in Your Pocket? by Beatrice Schenk deRegniers. The corduroy books by Don Freeman have a lot of words you might never use in everyday conversation. By using the words in the story and not replacing them with more familiar words, your child’s vocabulary will grow. Also, they learn to use the pictures to get an idea of what the word means. Have a wonderful winter break!!
