This week in library we read and acted out The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything by Linda Williams. This is a great not so scary book about a little old lady who is followed through the woods by some shoes, a shirt, pants, gloves, a hat and a very scary pumpkin head. Ask your child what happened with the pumpkin head and clothes at the end of the story. One of the important components in early literacy is the development of narrative skills, which is the ability to tell a story. By reenacting a story that you read with your child you are helping them develop their skills which can lead to higher reading comprehension as they begin to read on their own.
